3 Best Beaches in North Wales

·

There are a lot of beaches in North Wales. Whether you are on holiday or live close by, looking for a beach day out. In this post, I will go over the best beaches in North Wales. I will include beaches for surfing in North Wales and Beaches for relaxing in North Wales.

The best beaches in North Wales

The beaches I will talk about below are the most beautiful and must-sees in North Wales.

Rhosneigr Beach – Anglesey

Rhosneigr is a trendy coastal town on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales. There are two beaches here, but Rhosneigr beach is what we have chosen for this list. It is well known for its surf. This 1.2-mile-long beach is the larger of the two beaches in Rhosneigr. This means there is a lot of room to do whatever you please; surf, build sandcastles or relax.

Rhosneigr also has great is excellent for a walk as well. So if you fancy a beach walk, you can walk all around the dunes and down to the ocean. This beach is also really close to the town of Rhosneigr. This means it is very accessible and straightforward to get back to the shops if you need anything.

Don’t have gear? Not to worry, you can head to Funsport Rhosneigr. In this shop, they sell products and offer equipment for rent. Funsport also offers lessons to those wanting to try something new or improve on what they already know.

Note: There is no lifeguard cover for this beach. If you visit, please be wary and safe.

Harlech Beach – Gwynedd

This 4-mile-long golden sand beach in Gwynedd is a must-see. This beach has impressive walks around the dunes and down to the ocean with beautiful views of Snowdonia National Park. The upside of this vast beach is not just the fantastic views.

The fact that it is a whopping 4 miles long means it is hard for this particular beach to get as busy as other smaller beaches around North Wales. This means it is also reasonably easy to access.

To access the beach take the Ffordd Glan Mor road from the village of Harlech past the Min-y-Don Holiday Park, beyond which is a pay-for car park. From here, a 400-metre path leads down to the beach. (I got the access description from the beach guide)

In the summer months, you may see Leatherback Turtles here as they come to feed off the Jellyfish in the area.

Note: There is no lifeguard cover for this beach. If you visit, please be wary and safe.

Porth Dafarch – Anglesey

Porth Dafarch is a small beach on the west coast of Anglesea. This is an activities beach, and a lot goes on here. On this beach, there are many activities; coasteering (I’ve done it here, it’s great fun), Kayaking, swimming, rock pooling and much more. Any ocean activities can be done here, and I believe I did mine with Anglesey Outdoors.

This is a lovely beach, but as it isn’t huge, it may be hard to get a space on some days. There were also some food carts selling burgers, hot dogs and drinks when I was here.

Porth Dafarch is located only 1.5 miles northwest of Trearddur Bay, another popular but more extensive beach. If Porth Dafarch is complete, maybe head over here.

Note: There is no lifeguard cover for this beach. If you visit, please be wary and safe.
