Mountain Equipment Alpine Pro Gaiters Review

I was apprehensive about gaiters to start with. After spending some time in the Mountain Equipment Alpine Pro gaiters my mind was changed. I’m not saying that I would buy these are the best or the only ones. However these are the ones I am using currently, but if I ever get a new pair, I’ll give my opinion on them too.

What I think of the Mountain Equipment Alpine Pro Gaiter

I got a size medium, and I wear UK size eight boots. I believe these were the correct size for me, so follow the size guide Mountain Equipment gave you (that’s what I did).

These Goretex Alpine Pro gaiters are very thin and lightweight. One benefit of having Goretex is they only need one thin layer, which is why they are lightweight. The gaiter also has a bit of reinforcement near the ankle for crampon tear protection.

The duel locking system for the leg (a zip, then Velcro cover). It makes them feel like one complete piece of material. This helps ensure nothing catches and keeps that sleek look and feel while wearing them.

The pill cord at the top is also very easy to locate and pulls quite tight with no faff. I would have liked it to go a bit tighter. However, they didn’t fall once while wearing them. The leather strap under the boot is sturdy, along with the hook on the front that attaches to lace to ensure maximum comfort and efficiency when wearing the gaiter, letting no snow, water or mud up your leg into the boot.
