Petzl Irvis Leverlock 10-point Crampon Review

·

The Petzl Leverlock Irvis 10-point crampon is versatile and a great first choice. I’m a fan so far. I have used them for about 12 months on multiple occasions. I have had a mostly positive experience with these. However, there is one bad point and one thing I would change.

There’s not much you can say about crampons, but I do have a couple of things about the Petzl Irvis that I would like to say. Firstly, on one occasion, they came apart after a few stones got stuck under the metal adjuster and eventually pushed the pin, causing them to come apart. Luckily I was on flat ground, but it could have been a real issue.

This crampon is easy to get on and takes less than one minute. The buckle feels very secure and doesn’t come loose. Make sure to try them on with your shoe and adjust accordingly at home first. The adjuster does have markers for different shoe sizes, but some boots are bulkier than others, so bear that in mind. They should easily be able to fit all shoes.

They also feel great when walking over rocky terrain, which is an inevitable part of using crampons. Even if you don’t want it to be. Sometimes rocks stick out, and the Petzl Irvis feel solid and have little movement.
