Introduction
Creating things out of reclaimed materials is huge at the moment. Especially in the climbing and mountaineering world. We use a lot of great materials in our clothes, but they don’t last forever.
A few smart people and companies have decided to use old unusable materials donated to them, or left at climbing gyms. It’s such a great way to create one-of-a-kind unique products. It also saves a lot of waste going to landfill.
Psychi reached out to us and offered a rag bag boulder bucket made from recycled materials to look at and see what we think. That’s what we have done. We have looked at the good and the bad and what we would change when it comes to Psychi’s reclaimed products.
Boulder Bucket
First, allow me to say, that all of the bags will be a similar style and made to the same spec, but each one is unique and won’t look the same as the one I have.
I’m a fan so far. To start with, open the bag and see how nice and stylish this bag looks. I also love that no one will have one exactly like mine. This bag is one of a kind, and it helps the environment.
However, at the end of the day, I want to be picky and see the actual construction of it. Is it actually any good, or is it just a nice concept that will end up like the clothes it was made out of… in the bin?
I can safely say no this isn’t the case. I was pretty tough on the bag with testing, I pulled it threw it, and stood on it. I can confidently say that it held up to it all.
Additionally, there was minimal spillage (when the bag was closed) which makes me confident as I have fallen on my bags once or twice and had chalk go everywhere.
There is also a large zip pocket on the back of this bag which is perfect for storing your phone some tape and whatever else you may need. You will also find a stretchy loop on the side of the bag perfect for adding a hold cleaning brush. They really have thought of everything in this design.
So, is there anything I don’t like about the bucket? Nothing is perfect, so I do have two things. No. 1 The stitch lines are a bit messy, but not a big issue, and you hardly notice it and it won’t affect the bag. Secondly, it would be nice if instead of a roll close and clip, there was some velcro on there as well to keep it extra secure.
This would also help reduce chalk loss as it will easily close every time you take your hands out. So if the bag falls over you won’t lose any chalk, as well as if you land on the bag (this happens more than I’d like to admit).
At the end of the day, it’s just a well-made boulder bucket, that contributes to the environment.

Final Note
First of all, I have no doubt that all of the bags are made to the same quality shape, and size. The feel of each bag will be different along with the look. This is of course due to all reclaimed materials.
To save the planet and reduce waste, sometimes you have to think about how we can reuse otherwise binned materials.
Additionally, every time you place an order with Psychi, they plant a tree. This is because of their new commitment to sustainability. So not only do you save perfectly fine materials from landfill, you plant a tree as well.
